Fox J, Barbour S, Junco SJ. Central nervous system laboratory-confirmed influenza meningo-encephalitis treated with peramivir. Int J Antimicrob Agents. 2018 Oct;52(4):517-518.
Influenza-associated meningo-encephalitis (IAE) is a rare complication of influenza. The optimal therapy is not known, and oseltamivir has limited central nervous system (CNS) penetration. We report a case of CNS laboratory-confirmed IAE treated with peramivir with complete resolution of neurologic symptoms, contrasting with other case reports in the literature.
