I. Avian Influenza in human situation 2005
Since January 1, 2005 to November 9, 2005, the Bureau of Epidemiology has received reports of influenza or pneumonia cases in Avian Influenza Surveillance Network from the Provincial Health Offices and Disease Prevention and Control Regional Offices. The investigation and analysis were summarized as follows:
Conclusion:
· In 2005, there are 3 confirmed human cases of avian influenza.
· No patient from man-to-man transmission reported.
II. Avian Influenza International Situation, www.who.int
WHO report: On November 9, 2005, The Ministry of Health in Vietnam has confirmed a further case of human infection with H5N1 avian influenza. The case occurred in a 35 years old man from who was hospitalized with respiratory symptoms on October 26, 2005 and died on October 29, 2005. This is the first confirmed case in Vietnam since late July of this year. Since mid-December 2004, Vietnam has reported 65 cases, of which 22 were fatal.
WHO report in brief: Since 26 December 2004, to 9 November 2005, there had been 125 H5N1 confirmed reported cases, with 64 deaths in 4 countries; Vietnam = 92, with 42 deaths; Four confirmed dead cases from Cambodia; 20 cases with 13 deaths in Thailand; and 9 cases with 5 deaths from Indonesia. (Table 1)

III. Domestic Avian Influenza in poultry situation
Avian influenza in poultry situation on the Department of Livestock Development web site (www.dld.go.th); since October 1 to November 9, 2005; 7 provinces, 14 tambons; Suphanburi (4 tambons), Nonthaburi (3 tambons), Kanchanaburi (2 tambons), Karasin (2 tambons), Angthong (1 tambon), Samutprakan (1 tambon) and Nakhonpathom (1 tambon). The areas waiting for laboratory result are 51 provinces; 420 tambons.
