China: influenza A virus outbreak in Leizhou, Guangdong Province

The BOH of Guangdong announced yesterday a influenza A virus outbreak occurred in Xuhuang village, Leizhou city of Guangdong province. 286 people were diagnosed as influenza A virus infection. mainly children and no death reported. Xuhuang village has a popuplation of 2000. the patient were initially treated as viral URI, and a team from Guangdong CDC went to the spot for specimen collection, lab result confirmed influenza A infection of 286 people, and proper treatment followed after diagnosed.

The Guangdong CDC has ruled out the possibility of avian influenza infection among the patients in Leizhou, according to the latest announcement made by the authority.
