Conclusion: H3 is still dominated in the area, number of influenza B virus cases increased compared to last year and sporadic small-scale outbreaks occurred. The influenza cases peaked between March to June, no virus isolated in September.

Foshan was among those cities experienced SARS outbreak in China last year. The low activity of influenza virus will help the physicians in identifying potential SARS case in the coming winter in Guangdong Province.
