On 1 September 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in commercial turkey meat bird (USDA reported 29700 birds affected, while WOAH recorded 29800 birds affected) in Wright County, Minnestoa.

From 3 August to 2 September, 2026, APHIS reported 19 dead wild birds collected in 2026 (Mallard, Canada goose, Wood duck, Hooded merganser, Bald eagle, Peregrine falcon, Hooded merganser, Sandhill crane, Blue-winged teal, Pelican) tested positive for EA H5 HPAI strain in (Wright，Washington, Ramsey, Hennepin, Anoka, Mille Lacs) counties, Minnestoa.
