Canada: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Saskatchewan, December 12, 2025

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Rural Municipality of Barrier Valley No. 397, Saskatchewan, in a non-commercial premises. The WOAH premises classification is to be determined.
The CFIA has advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of the confirmed presence of HPAI in Canada. This serves as a strong reminder that HPAI is spreading across the globe, and that anyone with birds must practice enhanced biosecurity procedures.
