Canada: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in British Columbia, November 7, 2025

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Regional District of Nanaimo, British Columbia, in non-commercial non-poultry.

The CFIA has advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of the confirmed presence of HPAI in Canada. This serves as a strong reminder that HPAI is spreading across the globe, and that anyone with birds must practice enhanced biosecurity procedures.
