Canada: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Alberta, October 31, 2025

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza in one premises in the Municipal district of Bonnyville No. 87, Alberta, in non-commercial poultry, and in one premises in Strathcona County, Alberta, in a non-commercial birds where the WOAH premises classification is to be determined.
The CFIA has advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of the confirmed presence of HPAI in Canada. This serves as a strong reminder that HPAI is spreading across the globe, and that anyone with birds must practice enhanced biosecurity procedures.
