The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1 in the Rural Municipality of Round Hill No. 467, Saskatchewan, in a non-commercial premises. The World Organisation for Animal Health premises classification is to be determined.
The CFIA has advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of the confirmed presence of HPAI in Canada. This serves as a strong reminder that HPAI is spreading across the globe, and that anyone with birds must practice enhanced biosecurity procedures.
