Epidemiological comments |
November 15, 2018 update: ? The Minnesota Board of Animal Health (BAH) and USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS) are conducting an epidemiological investigation of the events and have increased surveillance as a result of these detections. State officials have quarantined the affected premises and implemented movement controls. Turkeys from all infected premises will be depopulated through controlled marketing. ? Increased surveillance detected H5N2 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) in one additional commercial meat-type turkey flock within the control areas. ? For all confirmed cases, partial HA and NA sequence are consistent with H5N2 LPAIV of North American wild bird lineage. Full sequencing of the virus from the index premises showed all gene segments are consistent with North American wild bird lineage H5N2 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) virus. | |
