Global surveillance systems

World Health Organization (WHO) - FluNet
FluNet is the web-based data collection and reporting tool of the Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN). FluNet includes virological influenza information from countries worldwide, provided by National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza reference laboratories collaborating actively with GISN.

World Health Organisation (WHO) - Global Influenza Surveillance Network
The WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network enables WHO to recommend twice annually the content of the influenza vaccine for the subsequent influenza season. More than 250 million doses of influenza vaccine are produced annually which contain the WHO recommended influenza strains.

Canada: Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC)  - FluWatch
FluWatch is Canada´s national surveillance system that monitors the spread of flu and flu-like illnesses on an on-going basis. FluWatch reports, posted every Friday, contain specific information for health professionals on flu viruses circulating in Canada.

US: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – FluView
A weekly Influenza Surveillance Report Prepared by the Influenza Division.

Australia: Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing - Ozflu
The Australian Influenza Report is compiled from a number of data sources, including laboratory-confirmed notifications to NNDSS, sentinel influenza-like illness reporting from General Practitioners and Emergency Departments, workplace absenteeism, and laboratory testing.

New Zealand: Information for New Zealand Public Health Action, Public Health Surveillance - Influenza Weekly Update
The national influenza surveillance system in New Zealand is an essential public health component for assessing and implementing strategies to control influenza. The Influenza Weekly Updates summarise the data collected from sentinel general practive (GP) surveillance and non-sentinel surveillance.
