China: Cheung Sha Wan bird tested for avian flu in Hong Kong

Preliminary testing of a dead Oriental Magpie Robin found in Cheung Sha Wan indicates it may have had the H5 avian influenza, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department says.
The carcass was found and collected on February 10 at Cheung Sha Wan Wholesale Food Market. Oriental Magpie Robins are common resident birds in Hong Kong.
The department will conduct a cleaning and disinfection operation in the market and the temporary wholesale poultry market.
To avoid the spread of avian flu to people, observe good personal hygiene and avoid personal contact with wild birds, live poultry and their droppings. Clean your hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them. Poultry and eggs should be thoroughly cooked before they are eaten.
